The Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF), the only pan-Asian children and families’ advocacy organization bringing together community-based organizations as well as youth and community allies to fight for equity for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, has released the following statement on Governor Hochul’s budget.

Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has awarded Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) a grant through her charitable organization, Yield Giving. Scott’s unrestricted gift will help CACF advance its work to fight for equity for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) throughout New York City and New York State.

In December 2023, CACF released “The 18% and Growing Campaign: A Guide To The Discretionary Process,” a detailed guide which both introduces the goals of our budget advocacy campaign and clearly explains the discretionary process to members and partners.

The primary goal of this toolkit is to assist community- and advocacy-based organizations on how to build narratives and cultivate effective testimonials and community driven stories centered around the AAPI Diaspora as an asset to effect positive impact and promote social justice.

In December 2023, CACF released the “2023 Social Impact Report: AAPI Community Support Initiative,” a detailed report breaking down the impact of the NYC Council-funded AAPI Community Support Initiative.

Led by CSAAH, these resources were developed under the Innovations in Data Equity For All Laboratory (IDEAL) initiative, a cross-sector and interdisciplinary collaborative with the goal to transform health data collection in New York state through equitable collection of patient race/ethnicity and strengthening patient and community trust in in health care settings.

 Hate does not have a place in our vision for New York. As leaders across New York’s Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities, we denounce the violence and humanitarian crises being perpetrated in Palestine and the violence perpetrated in Israel. And we stand in solidarity with Muslim, Sikh, Jewish, South Asian, West Asian, and Arab American communities in the United States that are unjustly experiencing a rise of violence and hate.
