CACF Statement on Restoration of Article 6 Funding
CACF issued the following statement on February 17 in response to the restoration of Article 6 funding by New York State.

CACF applauds Governor Hochul’s announcement restoring $60 million in Article VI funding to prior reimbursement levels.
We thank Assemblymember González-Rojas, Senator Rivera, and Councilmember Schulman for their steadfast commitment to restoring this funding and extend our deep gratitude to Governor Hochul and Mayor Mamdani for making this restoration a reality.
CACF proudly co-led the effort to restore Article VI funding with advocacy groups and community-based organizations across New York City. We are especially grateful to the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), Community Service Society (CSS), Commission on the Public's Health System (CPHS), Callen-Lorde, GMHC, Latino Commission on AIDS, and Planned Parenthood.
Investing in public health is a commitment to health equity, culturally responsive care, and community trust. As we have seen, when Article VI public health funding falls short, it is our communities — working-class families, parents of infants and newborns, seniors with limited English proficiency, survivors of violence, uninsured New Yorkers, and more — who feel the consequences first and most acutely. This restoration of funding will allow New York City to continue to push back against federal funding cuts, address growing health threats like the rise of vaccine misinformation, and continue to provide core public health services like chronic disease prevention, and family and newborn health services.
Strong, publicly supported health programs ensure Asian American and Pacific Islander New Yorkers can access culturally responsive care and language access services. This funding restoration sends a clear message to immigrant and working-class communities: New York will invest in their health, dignity, and wellbeing.
