CACF Congratulates Zohran Mamdani on Historic NYC Election

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, the Coalition of Asian American Children and Families (CACF) released the following statement on the election of Zohran K. Mamdani as Mayor of New York City.

CACF congratulates Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani on his hard-fought victory as Mayor of New York City. For many of our community members, seeing an immigrant South Asian and Muslim New Yorker elected to our City’s highest office is deeply meaningful and a sign of the growing political power and influence of our communities.

As the nation’s only pan-Asian children and families organization for nearly 40 years CACF has been a key convener of community-based organizations, young people, parents, and caregivers who collectively advocate for the needs of AAPI and immigrant New Yorkers.

Tuesday’s election results come at a time when so many of our communities feel as if they are under threat due to federal actions on immigration, the availability of public benefits, and the accessibility of healthcare. As we celebrate the historic nature of Tuesday’s election, CACF will also work to hold the new administration accountable to addressing the growing needs of New York City’s AAPI communities and fully support immigrant and limited English proficient New Yorkers of all backgrounds.

We look forward to working with Mayor-elect Mamdani to ensure the most vulnerable New Yorkers of all backgrounds have access to the healthcare, education, and social safety net services they need to not only survive, but thrive in New York City.
