Immigrant Social Services Hosts A Virtual Fireside Chat with Qian Julie Wang

  • Online (register at Eventbrite for the link) (map)

CACF member Immigrant Social Services (ISS) is hosting a Virtual Fireside Chat with acclaimed author Qian Julie Wang.

Please join ISS for a virtual chat with the author Qian Julie Wang of The New York Times Bestseller, Beautiful Country: A Memoir, on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 8:30pm! Thanks to a special sponsorship with ISS community partner Yu+Me Books, one attendee will win a signed copy of the book!

In Chinese, the word for America, 美國 (mei guo), translates directly to “beautiful country.” What was it like to immigrate from China to “beautiful country” through the lens of a 7 year old? Wang reflects on how she navigated this experience and its impact on her and the individuals in her life.

Email ISS at programs@issnyc.org with your questions, or submit them at the end of the registration. Selected queries will be answered live and the program will be recorded.

This event is brought to you in partnership with Association of Asian American Yale Alumni (AAAYA) - NYC Chapter, Blasian March, Chatham Square Library, Coalition for Asian American Children+Families, Seward Park Library, Soar Over Hate, Stanford Asian Pacific American Alumni Club, Welcome to Chinatown, The WNET Group’s Exploring Hate initiative, and sponsored by Yu+Me Books.
